Polyurethane adhesive for polystyrene and mineral wool A one-component, low-pressure polyurethane adhesive used for fixing polystyrene boards during building insulation in ETICS systems, as well as for fixing various types of insulation boards.
Description
PROPERTIES:
- Performance: 10 m2 – 100% higher than traditional cement adhesives
- 15% higher bonding strength than traditional cement adhesives
- Low stress
- Fixing with dowels after only 2 hours – significantly speeds up insulation work, and with the use of CT 84 and Ceresit Ceretherm systems, insulation work can be up to 5 days shorter
- Works in temperatures as low as -10°C and high humidity – particularly recommended in periods of lower temperatures when the drying of cement adhesives is significantly slowed down
- Ideal for use in “insulation on insulation” – attaching 1 m2 of polystyrene with CT 84 adhesive weighs 100g instead of 5 kg with cement adhesive
- Increased thermal insulation properties – CT 84, unlike traditional cement adhesives, has thermal insulation properties similar to insulation materials such as polystyrene or wool
- High uniformity of the adhesive thanks to the use of a metal ball that prevents the formation of large air bubbles
- A next-generation valve allows for storage in various positions and ensures long-term high-quality adhesive performance.
More information:
Ceresit CT 84 polyurethane adhesive is used to mount polystyrene and mineral wool boards in complex Ceresit Ceretherm external wall insulation systems (ETICS). It is used for mounting insulation boards during the insulation of newly constructed buildings as well as those undergoing thermal renovation. Approximately 2 hours after application, the mounted insulation boards can be sanded, dowelled, and then reinforced with a mesh layer using Ceresit CT 85, CT 87, or ZU mortar.
Ceresit CT 84 polyurethane adhesive is also used to mount materials such as EPS, XPS polystyrene, and mineral wool onto substrates such as wood, OSB boards, glass, bitumen, ceramic bricks, concrete, coated and galvanized sheet metal, dry and water-exposed cellular concrete, plasterboard, and for layered bonding of boards under normal and low temperatures, including insulation systems. It is also used to bond thermal insulation boards, attach external sills (after degreasing the surface), fill gaps between thermal insulation boards, as well as for substrate filling (supplementing the adhesive) in the case of keying boards in an existing insulation system and attaching polystyrene boards in the case of renovating an existing insulation system “insulation on insulation”.
STEP BY STEP
PREPARATION OF THE PU-ADHESIVE
Shake the container energetically for several seconds, remove the valve cup and screw the gun on the container held with the valve upwards. Caution! The gun valve should be twisted off. After screwing the container on, the valve gun may be opened and adhesive may be released with pressing the trigger. Prior to fixing EPS, fix the start strips. CT 84 should be applied with the gun held with the container upwards, with the distance between the gun and the board maintained to enable correct application of adhesive
APPLICATION OF THE PU-ADHESIVE
In case of fixing insulation panels in the CT 84 additonal thermal insulation system, application should be done on the perimeter of the board, at the distance of about 2 cm from the edge, and in one strip across the centre of the board, parallel to its longer sides. When gluing insulation panels for foundation thermal insulation, apply CT 84 in 5 vertical strips parallel to the shorter sides of the board, in the distance of about 2 cm from the edge.
FIXING THE INSULATION BOARDS
Immediately press the board to the wall and hold it with small pressure with a long float. Smoothness of the surface of the EPS boards may be adjusted within 20 minutes of their fixing, with the use of a long float.
