Ceresit CT87 - Universal adhesive for insulation “2in1” WHITE - 25kg
What is Ceresit CT 87?
Ceresit CT 87 is a premium 2-in-1 White Adhesive and Basecoat used in External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems. It is uniquely formulated to both fix insulation boards (EPS and Mineral Wool) and create a reinforced basecoat. Because of its brilliant white color and high resin content, it often allows for the direct application of silicone renders without the need for an additional primer, saving significant labour time on site.

| Consumption | Approx. 4.0 kg/m² for basecoating |
| Reinforcement | Micro-fiber reinforced for extreme flexibility |
| Vapour Permeability | High (Highly Breathable) |
- Do I need a primer if I use Ceresit CT 87?
One of the main advantages of Ceresit CT 87 is its white, high-adhesion surface. In many cases, if the basecoat is clean and dry, you can apply Ceresit silicone renders directly onto it, skipping the Ceresit CT 16 Primer step. This reduces both material costs and labor time. - Is CT 87 better than CT 190 or ZU?
Yes, CT 87 is considered the "premium" choice. While CT 190 and ZU are excellent standard adhesives, CT 87 is more flexible, has lower consumption per square meter, and its white color makes it much easier to cover with light-colored renders. - Can CT 87 be used for Mineral Wool?
Absolutely. CT 87 is highly vapour-permeable and fibre-reinforced, making it an ideal basecoat for "breathable" systems using Mineral Wool insulation.
- Preparation: Mix one 25kg bag with approx. 7.0L of clean water. CT 87 has a very creamy, easy-to-spread consistency.
- Board Fixing: Apply using the "strip and dot" method to the back of the insulation boards.
- Basecoating: Once the boards are fixed and rasped, apply a 3–4mm layer of CT 87.
- Mesh Integration: Embed the alkali-resistant mesh into the wet white mortar. Smooth the surface thoroughly.
- Rendering: Once dry (approx. 24–48 hours), you can proceed directly to applying your Ceresit Silicone Render.
- Pro-Tip for Light Colors: If you are using a white or very light-colored render, using CT 87 is highly recommended. Because the basecoat is already white, you will never see the "grey ghosting" that can sometimes happen when using standard grey basecoats.
- Pro-Tip on Efficiency: On large projects, CT 87 can reduce the total project duration by 1–2 days because you don't have to wait for a primer layer to dry before rendering.
CERESIT® CT 87 is designed to warm up external walls of the buildings by application of external thermal insulation composite system using EPS- or mineral wool façade boards. CT 87 is used for fixing of facade boards and for applying the reinforcing protection layer to insulate the newly constructed objects as well as older buildings to be thermo-renovated. CT 87 is resistant to the formation of cracks, is flexible, light, has a homogenous consistency and it is easier to be stirred, applied and spread. Available pack size: 25 kg
