Ceresit CT177 - mosaic render - 10kg
What is Ceresit CT177?
Ceresit CT177 is a specialized Mosaic Render (Stone Master) designed for decorative finishes on building plinths, entrance areas, and staircase walls. Formulated with high-quality transparent resins and colored quartz aggregates, it is exceptionally resistant to mechanical damage, dirt, and heavy scrubbing. It is the industry standard for protecting the "splash zone" (the bottom 60cm of a wall) from moisture and impact.

- Is Ceresit CT177 waterproof for building plinths?
Yes. Because CT177 uses a dense acrylic resin binder, it is highly hydrophobic and resistant to soaking. This makes it ideal for building plinths and ground-level walls that are frequently exposed to rain splash-back and ground moisture. - Why does Ceresit CT177 look white/milky when first applied?
This is normal for resin-based mosaic renders. The wet resin appears milky or white during application, but it will dry to a completely transparent glass-like finish, revealing the natural color of the quartz stones within 24 to 48 hours. - Can CT177 be used on large wall areas?
While it can be used on entire facades, it is most commonly used for architectural details, fences, and high-traffic areas. Because it is a heavy resin render, it is less "breathable" than silicone renders, so it should only be used on appropriate substrates like concrete or cement-lime plasters.
- Substrate Check: Ensure the surface is perfectly flat and dry. Any bumps in the wall will be visible through the thin mosaic layer.
- Priming: Use Ceresit CT16 Primer. It is highly recommended to tint the primer to match the dominant color of the CT177 stones.
- Mixing: Stir the tub slowly by hand or with a low-speed mixer. Warning: Do not over-mix or use high speeds, as this can create air bubbles in the resin.
- Application: Apply with a stainless steel float held at an angle. Apply the material in one direction only to ensure the stones lay flat.
- Finishing: Smooth the surface gently. Unlike silicone renders, do not use a plastic float to "texture" mosaic render.
- Pro-Tip on Joint Lines: To avoid visible "overlap" marks, always mask off sections with tape and finish a whole panel at once. Never stop in the middle of a wall.
- Pro-Tip for External Use: Do not apply CT177 if the temperature is expected to drop below +5°C or if rain is expected within 24 hours. High humidity during the drying process can cause the resin to remain "milky" for longer.
CERESIT® CT 177 is used for making decorative, colourful plaster coatings on traditional plasters, concrete and gypsum substrates, on chipboard, plasterboard. The binder is transparent resins and the fillers are
coloured quartz pebbles. After setting, a colourful render is obtained. CT 177 is recommended for use on walls
exposed to abrasion and dirt
inside or
outside the buildings.
