Ceresit CT180 STRONG FIX - Mineral Wool Adhesive - 25kg
What is Ceresit CT 180?
Ceresit CT 180 is a premium, fiber-reinforced Basecoat Mortar specifically engineered for reinforcing the surface of Mineral Wool and lamella insulation boards in External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems. It provides exceptional crack resistance, high flexibility, and excellent adhesion for subsequent render layers. Note: CT 180 is typically used as a basecoat only, applied over boards already fixed to the wall.

- Can I use Ceresit CT 180 for fixing insulation boards?
No. Ceresit CT 180 is formulated as a specific basecoat (reinforced layer) over already-fixed insulation. For the purpose of adhering the mineral wool boards to the wall, you should use the Ceresit CT 190 Adhesive, which has the required initial grab strength for heavy insulation. - Do I need a mesh with Ceresit CT 180?
Yes. Although CT 180 is fibre-reinforced, an alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh must always be embedded within the wet basecoat layer to provide structural strength and protect against cracking caused by thermal expansion or impact. - Is CT 180 breathable for mineral wool systems?
Yes. CT 180 is highly vapour-permeable, making it the ideal partner for breathable Mineral Wool insulation systems. It allows moisture vapor to pass through the system efficiently, preventing moisture entrapment.
- Preparation: Mix one 25kg bag of CT 180 with approx. 6.0L of clean water using a low-speed drill until homogenous.
- Board Preparation: Ensure the mineral wool boards are fixed, rasped flat, and free of dust.
- Application: Apply the CT 180 mortar to the thickness of the reinforcing mesh using a notched or smooth stainless steel trowel (around 4mm thick).
- Mesh Embedding: Lay the fiberglass mesh into the fresh mortar and smooth it with a flat trowel. Ensure a 10cm overlap at all joints.
- Drying/Priming: Allow to dry for 24–48 hours, then prime with Ceresit CT 16 Primer before the final render.
- Pro-Tip on Coverage: The consumption rate for CT 180 is very efficient (around 4.0 kg/m²). This makes it a cost-effective choice for large commercial mineral wool projects.
- Pro-Tip on System Compatibility: Always ensure the entire system (adhesive, basecoat, primer, render) is Ceresit-branded. Mixing chemical components from different brands can lead to system failure and invalidated warrantees.
CERESIT CT180 is designed to warm up external walls of the buildings by application of external thermal insulation composite system using mineral wool façade boards as well as lamella. It is an element of CERESIT Ceretherm WM Classic and WM Premium insulation systems. CT180 is used for fixing of mineral wool façade boards to insulate the newly erected objects as well as the buildings to be thermo-renovated. it should be used in case of EPS-boards application used for insulating buildings.
